Design of a Friendly Character for a Security Company's Trademark

Raonsecure's character design embodies the core values of aspiration, immersion, and execution, resulting in a unique, three-dimensional figure with a compelling personality and story. This character, RAON, is crafted to create a friendly connection with users, challenging the typical perception of the security software industry as monotonous and rigid.

Background

The primary keywords that Raonsecure embodies are aspiration, immersion, and execution. Our team used these concepts as inspiration to design a three-dimensional character with a unique personality and rich storytelling. With RAON, we aim to establish a friendly connection between the industry and users, distancing ourselves from the common perception of the security software industry as monotonous, rigid, and difficult to approach.

Raonsecure's core values are aspiration, immersion, and execution. Drawing from these principles, our team created a character that is three-dimensional, featuring a distinctive personality and narrative. Through RAON, we seek to forge a friendly link between the industry and its users, challenging the usual view of the security software sector as dull, inflexible, and unapproachable.

Research has shown that character marketing is particularly effective in Korea. In 2015, Naver and Kakao launched full-scale character businesses by spinning off Line Friends and Kakao Friends, respectively. Line Friends saw sales grow from approximately $28.92 million in 2015 to $159.62 million by 2019, marking a 452% increase in just four years.

Among Raonsecure's software platforms, there is a B2C-oriented service. The use of characters is intended to create a friendly image for users and enhance the company's positive brand image.

My role

I have created a trade character at Raonsecure. It was my solo project of design, and I produced everything from rough sketches to drawings and illustration artwork.

And as mentioned earlier, I drew illustrations of various poses to embody Raonsecure's three keywords in the characters. Our team created a personality based on MBTI for each character, and I designed the characters with various facial expressions, items, and activities that fit their personalities. And I made the character guide so that our team could use it to produce various goods and promote it through social online promotions in the future.

Goal

The goal of the trade character design is to more clearly visualize the company's cultural values, keywords, and marketing through the characters.

The purpose of creating these mascots is to use them for virtual objects, such as commercial brands or products for consumers, even if they are not real organizations, and to close the distance between consumers through various platforms and distribution channels.
